About Us

The Kern Water Collaborative (KWC) is a nonprofit public benefit corporation created to maintain and improve the quality of life in Kern County’s three groundwater basins/subbasins (Westside South, Poso, and Kern River), as well as within a small portion of Kings County’s Tulare Lake groundwater basin/subbasin located within the Dudley Ridge Water District boundaries and the Westside Water Quality Coalition’s boundaries.

KWC accomplishes its mission by implementing programs that provide residents with access to safe drinking water and by engaging in activities aimed at investigating, protecting, and enhancing the quality of groundwater drinking water supplies in the region. Additionally, KWC will provide free domestic well testing and free bottled water to qualified applicants. At this time, KWC’s general coverage area for the free well test and bottled water delivery program, is north of Kern River, in communities outside of public water system service areas, such as Buttonwillow, Wasco, Lost Hills, Delano, McFarland, Shafter, Rosedale, and more.
